Sewage cleanup & decontamination

Sewage backups and drain floods are Category 3 (black) water — a genuine health hazard. Our IICRC-certified technicians extract, decontaminate and dry the property 24/7 across South Wales and the M4 corridor.

Do not clean sewage yourself

Sewage carries bacteria, viruses and parasites, and it soaks into carpet, underlay, chipboard and plasterboard within minutes. Household cleaners do not decontaminate it, and drying alone does not make it safe. Keep children and pets out of the area, switch off electrics if water is near sockets, and call us.

How we handle a sewage flood

1. Make the area safe

We isolate the affected zone, set up containment and negative air where needed, and stop anyone entering contaminated space in normal clothing.

2. Extract the black water

Truck-mounted and portable units remove sewage and standing water fast, with technicians in full PPE throughout.

3. Strip and dispose

Porous materials that have absorbed Category 3 water are cut out, bagged and disposed of correctly, with everything photographed for your claim.

4. Clean and disinfect

Every hard surface is washed down and treated with professional antimicrobial products, followed by odour control and deodorisation.

5. Dry and verify

Dehumidifiers, air movers and moisture meters bring the structure back to safe readings — and we document the drying so you have proof it was done properly.

Sewage cleanup FAQs

What to expect when sewage or black water enters your property.

Is sewage water dangerous?

Yes. Sewage is classed as Category 3 (black) water and carries bacteria, viruses and parasites. Keep people and pets out of the affected area, avoid contact with contaminated surfaces, and call a certified team rather than cleaning it yourself.

How quickly can you attend a sewage backup?

We operate a 24/7 emergency line and dispatch from South Wales, so we can usually be on site within a few hours across South Wales and the M4 corridor. Call 07814 508352 for an immediate response.

What has to be thrown away after a sewage flood?

Porous materials that have absorbed black water — carpet, underlay, insulation, chipboard and often plasterboard below the waterline — normally cannot be safely salvaged. Hard, non-porous surfaces are cleaned, disinfected and dried.

Will my insurance cover sewage cleanup?

Most UK buildings and contents policies cover escape of water and sewage backup. We document moisture readings, photos and materials removed so the claim can be supported, and we work directly with insurers and loss adjusters.

How do you make the property safe again?

We extract the contaminated water, remove unsalvageable materials under containment, clean and apply professional antimicrobial treatments, deodorise, then dry the structure with dehumidifiers and air movers until moisture readings return to normal.
